Meet Michele

Turning 65 this year made Michele realize that time is flying by and she was missing out on a lot of family things.

Here’s her story…

Why did you decide to buy a home and how did you know it was the right time?

Living out of the province, I wasn’t seeing my family very often and to be honest it just felt right that this was the move I needed to make.

What were you looking for in a real estate agent and how many did you interview?

I was looking for a realtor that I could talk to and that would listen to me and not be pushy. I didn’t interview any other realtors. I was a realtor’s assistant for 12 years so I knew the type of realtor I felt comfortable with.

Why did you ultimately choose Travis to be your real estate agent?

My sister and brother in law had Travis previously as their realtor and the ReMax realtor I had selling my home in Campbell River, BC reached out to him and it all seemed to fall into place from that contact.

What were you most nervous or concerned about in the process?

Selling a home in British Columbia and moving to a new province, Alberta. I have lived my whole life on Vancouver Island, this was going to be a huge change.

What surprised/stood out to you about the process?

With the aid of technology how easy it was to view homes I wanted to see through Facetime. I didn’t have to fly to Spruce Grove to view them.

What was the best part of your buying experience?

Finding a new home that meets my needs and that I love the look of inside and out. So nice to buy a home that is only 2 years old too as the home I was living in was 32 years old.

Were there stressful moments and how were they handled?

Only one stressful moment stands out and I needed to step back and think about the issue and the following day talked it through with family and then Travis. After speaking with everyone I ended up putting an offer in that day.

How did Travis guide you through the buying process,  including when you made an offer/s?

Travis talked about next steps and what to expect and according to previous residences that have sold in that area what would be a reasonable offer. I trusted his judgement and it paid off.

Would you do anything differently?

Yes, I would have done it all sooner and not waited years to make the move.

What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of buying a home?

Wow that is a big question.  There really are so many things and each person has their own priorities. I can only say what has worked for me.

If you have certain things that you need in a place and will not do without them then know what they are before even looking at places. My deal breaker on purchasing a new home was mine must have an attached garage.

I was downsizing so I de-cluttered, sold, gave away and recycled as much as I could even before I listed my house and before I started looking at new places in Spruce Grove.

I am a list person, it keeps me on track and lets me know what I have and haven’t done yet.

Facetime is great in the aid of buying a place if you can’t physically be there.

Would you hire Travis again? If yes, why?

recommended

Yes I would hire Travis again, however I do not want to have to move again, sorry.  Travis listened to me, provided information, got back to me on questions that I had and was great in communicating whether it was by phone, text, email or Facetime. Very nice to be working with someone that knows their job and  has a good sense of humor.

Congratulations on your move Michele!

We hope you love your new home and we are so happy that you can now enjoy being able to spend time with your family.
