Reyna shares her first time home buying experience!
Reyna had been renting while she finished her Masters Degree. With that achieved and a new career underway it was time to get her own home…. and a puppy! 😍
Here’s her story…
What were you looking for in a real estate agent and why did you choose Travis?
I was looking for a real estate agent with specific experience and expertise in the Spruce Grove area housing market who would assist with getting a house for a fair price based on the neighbourhood and community. I met with one realtor before Travis and quickly realized it was not a good fit. I wanted a realtor who listened to my needs and preferences when looking for a home and who would help me find a home within my budget without pressuring me to look above my price range or at types of homes I was not interested in. From the moment I spoke with Travis on the phone I knew he would be the perfect fit. He listened attentively to what I was looking for and immediately set up a time to meet me at a home I was interested in viewing. He set me up with a search of homes that fit my budget and preferences. His communication was prompt and he was incredibly knowledgeable. He immediately put me at ease as I was quite stressed being a first time home buyer.
What were you most nervous or concerned about?
I was nervous about the process and steps to buying a house as it was a brand new experience for me. I was also worried I wouldn’t be able to find a house that would fit my needs and budget with minimal renovations. There were a few surprises along the way, but it wasn’t stressful as Travis remained calm and explained the options clearly. He proceeded ensuring my best interest was at hand and did further research and investigation.
What surprised you about the process?
It surprised me how easy the process was and once I realized that Travis was going to support me through every step, my stress declined significantly. I also did not realize how much time is spent communicating with your realtor – there were messages back and forth for many days once I put my offer in. The communication aspect was not difficult though as Travis was prompt in responding to messages and calls and always made sure I knew he was available for any questions or concerns. I was also surprised by how fast the process goes once an offer is put in. I looked at the house for the first time on Monday and the offer was approved by Thursday.
What was the best part of your buying experience?
The best part of the buying experience was knowing that I did not have to worry about the process as I was constantly reassured and kept in the loop along the way. I was able to relax knowing that Travis and his assistant were working behind the scenes on my behalf to get me the best deal and make my buying experience enjoyable.
How did Travis guide you through the buying process?
I relied quite heavily on Travis and his expertise throughout the process, as I did not know much about the steps to purchasing a home. When I was unsure of the next step Travis always explained in detail what would be occuring next. He never made me feel like I wasn’t knowledgeable or had too many questions. He would often ask if I wanted the long version or the short version which I appreciated. When showing me the house, he let me look around and did not make many comments until he knew my thoughts on the home. When I expressed interest we booked a second viewing and went through everything again more thoroughly. Once I made the decision to place an offer we met over Zoom to go over the paperwork. He was thorough and made sure everything was clear and all my questions were answered. After the offer was placed he acted on my behalf to get me the best deal for my home. I trusted him in the process and never doubted that he would get a fair price as he is so aware of the housing market.
What advice would you have for someone who is thinking of buying a home?
Make sure you choose a realtor you can trust and who has your best interest in mind.
Would you hire Travis again?
Absolutely! He was extremely personable and professional and always available to answer any questions and made it known each time he checked in with me that I should not hesitate to give him a call or send him a message, which he responded to promptly. I appreciated the extra research and details he would look into to make sure every area was covered. I felt like he guided me through each step of the way and I didn’t have to worry about making a mistake or missing anything. After the house was purchased, he continued to check in with me regarding the paperwork with the lawyer. He also sent me a to do list of everything that needed to be done before moving in (hooking up utilities, garbage disposal, etc.)
