Meet Carlos

Carlos was ready to take the plunge and become a homeowner!

Here’s his story…

Why did you decide to buy a home and how did you know it was the right time?

I knew it was the right time when I realized I’d crossed the threshold of convenience and freedom. It got me to a place where having a closer relationship with a property brought a different feeling of the same things. It comes with more responsibilities but more independence and privacy. The road to this place was through several time zones and an amazing warm and blue sea, and a new language compass. One day, you realize where you’re supposed to be.

What were you looking for in a real estate agent and how many did you interview?

I was searching for an agent who I could trust and took the time to understand my many needs and the things I was willing to live without. An agent that could help me find a house with the perfect imperfections. I only talked with one.

What were you most nervous or concerned about in the process?

One of the things that worried me the most was discovering hidden problems later on and settling for less by missing key features. I’m happy with the purchase and the things I’m experiencing, the quiet and the space. I like having a blank canvas to create an environment that would feel like home.

What surprised/stood out to you about the process?

The support structure I had during the process. I had a mortgage broker when I met Travis, but he helped me to complete the team with the lawyers and house inspectors. the process was smooth and it was more easy than expected.

What was the best part of your buying experience?

One, knowing Travis was a good fit. Second, that I had a mortgage broker looking for my best interests. Third, hearing form my lawyer that I’m a home owner.

Were there stressful moments and how were they handled?

The moment of stress came while waiting for the seller’s response to my counter-offer. Travis and I deliberated to ensure that the proposal was fair and met the expectations of both parties. It went well.

How did Travis guide you through the buying process, including when you made an offer/s?

Travis was helpful in explaining the process to me. He patiently walked me through each step, discussing the potential outcomes and implications along the way. He was clear about my responsibilities and the various options available in different scenarios. I appreciated how Travis emphasized that the decision was mine to make and that I had no obligation to proceed. His approach helped me to feel confident and informed throughout the process, allowing me to make the best decision for myself.

Would you do anything differently?

I should have done it earlier.

What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of buying a home?

recommended

If you’re planning to buy a house, it’s always better to be well informed and prepared before making any commitments. I suggest doing thorough research on various aspects such as location, finance, strategies, price trends and amenities. You can start by exploring property listings and driving around the neighborhood to get a feel for the market. It’s always helpful to listen to experienced homeowners and gather information that can assist you in making an informed decision that’s right for you.

Would you hire Travis again?

Yes, he understood what I was looking for and he gave me space and time to process things, no rush.

Congratulations Carlos!

It was a pleasure assisting you through the home buying process and we are delighted that you are happy with your beautiful new home!
